People often ask whether these places are walkable to UC Berkeley or Lawrence Berkeley Lab. They are not. You need a car or rideshare. One private suite is about a 10-minute drive to campus. Drive, not a walk

The Berkeley Hills are residential and quiet. They are not downtown hotel walkability. From these stays, campus, downtown Berkeley, and the Lab area are a drive. If your plan depends on walking to class every day, a downtown hotel or a different neighborhood will fit better.

For a short UC or Lab visit, the suite listed as about a 10-minute drive to UC Berkeley is the closest of my four stays for that trip. That time comes from the listing wording. I do not invent minute counts for the other three stays, and I do not claim a walk from any of them.

Rideshare works when you do not want to park on campus. Even then, treat the trip as a drive, not a walk.

Some third-party cards call Hills stays “near campus” in a walkable sense. For my properties, that is not true. You get quiet and parking options. You do not get downtown walkability. Better to know that before you book.

  • View home: free driveway parking (no garage). A fit if you want a dedicated driveway spot at the property.
  • Studio Suite: free parking on premises.
  • Garden Studio: street parking only. Check local street rules for the nights you stay.
  • Sunny Private Suite (UC / Lab): free parking on premises at a different Hills address.

If driveway parking matters more than a short drive to campus, start with the view home. If you want free parking on premises and a short visit to campus, look at the Sunny Private Suite first.
